Lash is not only a unique shopping experience, it is a transcending story brought to life by the store owner, Herb Lash Sr., himself.
H.R. Lash was born into a family of entrepreneurs and it all began when Herb’s great grandfather moved to the Sault and opened up a local grocery store in 1912. During a grocery run, Herb's grandfather met his future wife who was visiting from Romania. A year later, they got married and bought their own store in 1914 − the year H.R. Lash became established as a footwear and clothing retailer. Through four generations of passion and perseverance in successfully running the business, each generation shares their own expertise and visions for the shop, continually learning from one another.
Beyond the bricks and mortar, H.R. Lash is a place of charm and character. It is a tribute to the Lash family, showcasing wall upon wall of local history, family heirlooms and cherished photographs. H.R. Lash caters to the eclectic taste of its loyal customers, who sport blue collars to suit collars, with an emphasis on carrying Canadian clothing, accessories, and footwear.
