      ‘‘Poorly constructed’’

I posted this review once and it seems it never got posted or was taken down. Anyways I bout these boots for a trip to Japan and wore them for a couple of months before the trip to break them in, No hard hikes or anything just wore them around town. So I wore these lightly for 2 months and then 2 days into my trip the counter int he heel area, which i believe is plastic just broke up and created a pocket of jagged plastic pieces=. It just made these impossible to wear. I bought new shoes on the trip eventually as we were walking a lot and my heel area was getting raw from the plastic rubbing on them. I emailed Kodiak when we got back and nothing. I emailed and called them 2 months later and got the "oh your email must have gone to the junk folder." Anyways I was told that they have a 6 month warranty and the time in between their no response and then put me well out of that period. I was told to send them back for inspection on my dime and no info on if they would be fixed, replaced, or even sent back. I eventually wrote them off as a $180 loss and got some Red Wings. I was not going to pay $60 or more to ship them for most likely nothing more than the company to say oh well the warranty is no good. I guess it's easy to warranty something when you ignore emails until the warranty period is over. Anyways there are more well constructed boots from companies that have superior customer service out there than this company. So I would look else where for boots. I would not recommend these to anyone. They look nice though, but they are definitely not made to be worn for more than a month or so.
