I love these boots style wise. I throw them on when I plan to explore down town, but also when I hike. I am not an abusive hiker, but tend to hike more difficult trails, just your average day hikes. I feel like comfort, I haven\'t rolled an ankle, but could use your own arch supports. Cold/water- warm/waterproof for a quick splash but not submersion, and a quick snow trek but not miles. Most importantly, today my sole broke?! I guess I\'ll see how resoling it goes since my boots are just over a year old and the leather itself is still great...

    ‘‘Perfect Boot’’

I actually bought these via Amazon.com, but considering the mix bag of reviews here, I thought I would leave one here as well. \n\nI have a narrow ankle but average width of foot, long toes. These boots fit soooo well, and I tried about a dozen pairs (no joke) before finding them. I wanted real leather. These have nice cushion bottom, good support, decent tread, and are waterproof.\n\nYou do have to break in leather a bit, but it molds to the foot, but it shouldn\'t be painful to put on. I tried many boots that had pinch or rub that would have caused blisters had I tried to break them in. This boot had the right shape for my foot, and holds my ankle well which is hard to find.\n\nI also find people who dont like these boots complain that they aren\'t waterproof. Folk, it is leather. You *do* have to care for the leather. A lot of people don\'t know you have to do this, or dont care. Leather does need to be cleaned and conditioned. A good boot, like these, do require care to remain good. \n\nI\'ve had mine for a couple of months with no problems, they slosh through deep puddles, flooded roads, etc in our drowned state just fine (8\" rain this past week!). \n\nI prefer a more aggressive tred for hiking, so while they have a classic hiker style to them, for the kind of hiking I do in backwoods, it would not be great. An average easy trail of a few miles it should be fine, but I did not buy these to hike in. I wanted a comfortable boot to walk distances in that had flair, these were perfect.

    ‘‘Not that waterproof’’

These boots have been comfortable since I first purchased them January \'17 from REI. Visiting cold temperatures has not been a problem. However, I wore them in the snow and slush for the first time over Thanksgiving while visiting Sequoia National Park and my socks and feet were soaked and then cold by the end of the day.
